The Problem
Across Cameroon’s North-West and South-West Regions, years of armed violence have left deep wounds on communities and families. Thousands of young people have seen their education interrupted, their livelihoods destroyed, and their dreams placed on hold.
Among them are young people who are being held in prisons and detention facilities. Some are serving lawful sentences, while others are awaiting trial or navigating lengthy judicial processes. Many families have been separated from their loved ones for months or even years, often without the financial means to secure legal representation or follow the progress of their cases.
Behind every case file is a human story.
A son whose parents have exhausted every resource seeking justice.
A university student whose education came to an abrupt halt.
A young father separated from his children.
A teenager whose future remains uncertain.
Whatever the circumstances surrounding their detention, every person has the right to dignity, fair treatment, legal representation, and due process under the law.
At Ndabuchiseh, we believe that protecting these rights is essential not only for individuals but also for lasting peace, reconciliation, and the rule of law.
The Solution
The Youth Justice and Human Rights Initiative is Ndabuchiseh’s response to one of the most urgent yet often overlooked humanitarian and human rights challenges facing conflict-affected communities.
We are building a network of volunteer lawyers and defenders to:
Conduct authorized prison visits
Provide legal aid and referrals
Document human rights concerns
Engage constructively with justice institutions
Promote due process and fair treatment
Why It Matters
Justice is the foundation of peace. When young people are treated fairly and their rights are respected, communities can heal, rebuild trust, and restore hope.
Our Commitment
This is a long‑term program. Ndabuchiseh will continue to coordinate legal aid, monitor detention conditions, raise awareness, and support reintegration of conflict‑affected youth.
